MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University junior guard Jevon Carter
was named to the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District II men’s basketball team, announced today.
District II encompasses the states of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia as well as the District of Columbia.
Carter, who was recently named to the All-Big 12 second team, averaged 12.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and handed out a team-best 123 assists in leading West Virginia to a 24-7 regular season record and a second-place finish in the Big 12 Conference behind top-ranked Kansas.
Carter recently scored his 1,000th career point against Baylor, becoming only the 51st player in school history to do so. He now shows 1,018 points to rank 48th all-time in school history heading into this week’s Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Kansas City.
Joining Carter on the All-District II team are Villanova’s Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson and Kris Jenkins, St. Bonaventure’s Jaylen Adams, Seton Hall’s Angel Delgado, Lehigh’s Tim Kempton, Syacuse’s Tyler Lydon, Monmouth’s Justin Robinson and Michael Young of Pitt.
Eleventh-ranked West Virginia will face either Texas Tech or Texas in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. EST.
