Mountaineer Madness presented by Coke Zero, an entertaining event for fans to preview the West Virginia men’s and women’s basketball teams, will tip off the 2009-10 basketball season on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at 8:30 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum.

Admission to the event is free for all ages.

Highlights of Mountaineer Madness include men’s and women’s team introductions, speeches from coaches Mike Carey and Bob Huggins, team scrimmages and a slam dunk contest. Other events include t-shirt give-a-ways, highlight videos and performances from the Mountaineer pep band, cheerleaders and dance team.

An autograph session will prelude the event starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Gold and Green gates in the Coliseum.

The Mountaineer men's and women's basketball teams are each coming off postseason appearances in 2008-09.
