251 Mountaineers Named to Big 12 Honor Roll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Big 12 Conference released its 2017 Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a total of 251 West Virginia University student-athletes making the list. The conference recognizes all student-athletes at its member institutions during each semester with a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
Of the 251 WVU student-athletes recognized by the Big 12 for their academic excellence, 58 registered a GPA of 4.0 in the spring semester.
The 58 Mountaineers named to the list with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the semester include: Tanner Campbell, Kyle Davis, Riley Troutt (baseball); Teyvon Myers (men’s basketball); Katrina Pardee, Marlena Schmidt, Bailey Thomas (women’s basketball); Brendan Ferns, Grant Lingafelter, Alejandro Marenco, Logan Thimons, Luke Williams (football); Brooklyn Doggette, Carly Galpin, Abby Kaufman, Julia Merwin, Jaquie Tun (gymnastics); Elizabeth Gratz, Jean-Pierre Lucas, Ginny Thrasher (rifle); Emily Deming, Louisa Morgan, Jacqueline Spiropoulous, Kaitlin Sullivan (rowing); Hannah Abraham, Isabella Coombes, Alli Magaletta, Easther Mayi Kith, Bianca St. Georges, Ashley Woolpert (women’s soccer); Jack Portmann, Jake Williams (men’s swimming & diving); Marah Bieger, Amelie Currat, Miranda Marcucci, Emma Skelley, Loren Williams, Madelyn Woods (women’s swimming & diving); Habiba Shaker, Paula Goetz, Kaja Mrgole, Abigail Rosiello, Makenzie Stolar (tennis); Danique Bryan, Amy Cashin, Jillian Forsey, Anna French, Peyton Hampson, Olivia Hill, Brianna Kerekes, Allison Lasnicki, Peyton Panger, Andrea Pettit, Krista-Gay Taylor, Bria Welker (women’s track & cross country); Gianna Gotterba, Morgan Montgomery, Hannah Shreve (volleyball).
The football and rowing teams led all Mountaineer athletic teams with 34 and 28 honorees, respectively, on the honor roll. Other total student-athletes on the honor roll include cross country/track (26), men’s swimming & diving (20), men’s soccer (19), women’s swimming & diving (19), women’s soccer (15), gymnastics (14), baseball (13), volleyball (11), women’s basketball (10), wrestling (9), women’s tennis (9), golf (9), men’s basketball (8) and rifle (7).
Sixty-four West Virginia student-athletes graduated in May with degrees.
The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognizes those Big 12 student-athletes who recorded a 3.00 or better GPA the previous semester.
More than 4,500 student-athletes each semester have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the Conference’s 19-year tenure.
